Man United keen on signing 21-year-old Ligue 1 rising star and sign€60m-rated Germany international

Man United are tracking the progress of Nice starlet Khephren Thuram as they seek reinforcements to their midfield unit. U21 France international joined the Eagles in 2019 after progressing through the youth ranks at Monaco.

Thuram has pretty much been a regular fixture in the centre of the park for the club ever since, racking up 93 games in which he has six goals and three assists. Khephren is currently part of the French Under-21 national team, for whom he has featured 11 times and scored twice.

A defensive midfielder by trade, the 21-year-old footballer has shown his capabilities of being able to operate as a No.6 and a No.8. The French midfielder possesses strong defensive traits in his game while being a good dribbler, which enables him to carry the ball forward from the centre of the park.

The Frenchman’s progress during his time at Nice has not gone unnoticed, with Newcastle having been interested in him in the recent past. Now, he is on the radars of clubs like PSG and Rennes in France, while Man United are also keeping tabs on the French midfielder.

Man United’s problems in the defensive midfield region are well-established. They have not had a quality No.6 in their ranks for a while now and have tried shoehorning Fred and McTominay into the roles, which has proven to be a major disaster. Thuram is contracted with Nice until the summer of 2025 but could be available for nearly €20m.

Man United have enquired about the availability of Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane as the Dutch manager seeks to strengthen his attacking unit. Liverpool are also interested in signing Germany international. Leroy has not had the smoothest of rides since returning to Germany in 2020 when he joined Bayern from Man City.

Sane has had to battle for regular playing time with the likes of Gnabry, Muller and Coman. And things are likely to get even more difficult for him this campaign following the arrival of Mane from Liverpool.

The 26-year-old winger started in 22 Bundesliga games last campaign, and he has been used as a substitute in Bayern’s both matches in the new campaign in all tournaments. It has led to question marks over his immediate future at the Allianz Arena, especially with this being a World Cup year and the footballer seeking regular game-time.

It has seemingly alerted the Red Devils, who are set to capitalise on the German winger’s situation by bringing him back to England, in a potentially controversial move given his history with Man City. Man United are on the lookout for another wide attacker and have been pursuing PSV winger Cody Gakpo.

Leroy Sane has played only under 40 minutes in Bayern Munich’s two official games this campaign. So, there could be a chance he decides to move if there is a lure of regular game time elsewhere.
