"BREAK THE BANK": Man Utd ready to agree £110million contract for signing, offer massive raise

Man Utd ready to agree £110million contract for signing, offer massive raise – Report

As per reports in Britain, the issue of deferred wages is perhaps stopping the player from completing his move to Man United (via The Independent and The Mirror).

However, reports in Spain have consistently indicated that the midfielder does not want to join the Red Devils. AS and El Pais have covered interesting stories today.

As per El Pais, if De Jong complies with the conditions until the end of his contract at the Nou Camp, he will be earning 14 million euros gross per year and 2 million in bonuses.

On the other hand, Man Utd are ready to agree a contract that will make the 25-year-old earn (£22million) 26 million euros gross per year, £110million in the next five years.

However, the news source have mentioned that despite being offered a massive raise, the former Ajax midfielder has turned United down.

As per AS, club president, Joan Laporta, has asked De Jong to cut his salary by 4 million euros if he wishes to stay with the Catalan giants.

The Netherlands star has insisted he does not want to join Man Utd because they will not be playing in the Champions League.

The Madrid-based media outlet have mentioned that the ball is in the court of the Dutchman, who is not going to take the drastic pay cut, especially after witnessing Barcelona pay huge fees and wages to secure new signings.

If the player refuses to lower his wages then the Blaugrana will push to ensure he ends up leaving this summer.

Barca have been activating financial levers to fund big money signings and even after luring Lewandowski, Raphinha, Kessie, Christensen, Dembele (new deal), they are not done yet. It is clearly baffling how they are consistently telling De Jong that they cannot afford his salary.

Man Utd should realize that ‘No’ means ‘No’. Ten Hag should not insist on signing a player who does not want to join. Instead, the Dutch coach should move to sign an alternative.

  1. I have been saying if de jong really comes to united, it is because the club will be paying him a humongous sum, between £400k to £450k per week. This will cause animosity within the team. Clearly united will fare very badly in the new season.

  2. Forget him he dose not want to come to UTD he wants to stay at Barca or Chelsea (as they in CL) so why buy a player who dose not want to play for UTD go get ruben neves a proven PL player & want to move

  3. Manchester should forget about De jong. Please, let us lean from Paul Pogba. After all,he's not the only midfielder in the world. He refuses to play for the club and we still forcing him to come.pleasz leave him alone, enough is an enough…..

  4. If United can afford that kind of money to buy a player that doesn't want to play for the club , no wonder that other clubs are asking a fortune for Players who are focus on a transfer to the club
