Manchester United are reportedly closing in on the signing of Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.
Reports in Italy suggest Manchester United are now on the verge of striking an agreement with Atalanta for Rasmus Hojlund with a new written offer set to be submitted ‘in the coming days’.
The Red Devils have been locked in talks with the Serie A club over the Danish frontman for several weeks but it now appears the saga is finally nearing a positive and rewarding conclusion for Erik ten Hag.
United are understood to have submitted a £50million verbal proposal in the past few days but with Paris Saint-Germain also at the table, it was clear they would have to raise their bid to oust their transfer rivals.
Now Sky Italia are reporting that an agreement is seemingly on the verge of completion as United are set to blow their rivals out of the water with an improved offer.
Transfer expert Luca Cilli claimed during a live broadcast that United are set to table £60m upfront plus just short of £5m in bonuses for the Denmark international youngster.
It’s highly likely that the package would be enough to satisfy Atalanta’s demands even though they have previously indicated they would want closer to £80m during discussions.
With Hojlund pressing for the move after already agreeing personal terms with the Red Devils, Atalanta would only be delaying the inevitable if they were to try and hold out for a higher figure that may not necessarily arrive.
United have made it clear they won’t be paying over the odds for the 20-year-old centre-forward and their imminent second bid is the highest they will go during the auction for one of Europe’s hottest talents.
