Chelsea agreeing shock move for€75m-rated Ligue 1 forward and sign 26-year-old Dutch wing-back
PSG are considering the prospect of offloading forward Neymar this summer. And intermediaries have contacted PL giants Chelsea, Man City and Man United to keep them updated about his possible availability.
Brazil international joined the Parisians in 2017 in a deal that shattered the world record for transfer fees as PSG shelled out a mind-boggling €222m to sign him from Barcelona.
Neymar’s time in PSG has not been the greatest success, as the attacker has failed to lead the club to European glory even though the Parisians have won many domestic trophies during his time at the Ligue 1 giants. The 30-year-old forward has had to deal with injury problems as well, while the attacker has had some off-the-field disciplinary issues.
All of it has led to question marks over his legacy in Paris and recently, club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi hinted that the Parisians wouldn’t be averse to the prospect of getting rid of such footballers, leading to speculations over his future.
Chelsea have already shown an interest in the Brazilian forward as ex-PSG coach Thomas Tuchel is considering revamping his entire attacking unit this summer.
While Chelsea had an agreement with Leeds United for Raphinha, the move could collapse due to the Brazilian’s wishes to join Barcelona, potentially opening the door for the Blues to swoop for Neymar. Apart from Chelsea, Man City and Man United, Newcastle have also been contacted and given an update on Neymar’s situation.
Inter Milan have named their price for defender Denzel Dumfries, who is attracting interest from PL giants like Man United and Chelsea. The London giants recently made an enquiry for the Netherlands international and also had an offer being turned down, with the Nerazzurri demanding €50m for the defender.
Dumfries joined the Italian club last summer from PSV in a deal worth €14m and was an instant hit. Denzel became a mainstay in Simone Inzaghi’s team, playing over 40 games for the Serie A giants from the right wing-back position. The 26-year-old defender also scored five goals while providing seven assists.
However, the Nerazzurri find themselves in a tricky financial situation and are in desperate need of selling some of their footballers to balance their books. The Dutch right-back is not considered indispensable at Inter Milan, and reports claim the Italian club are prepared to sell the defender if the right offer arrives.
The Blues, who themselves are eager to bolster their back-line, entered the battle and had a €30m bid being turned down by the Nerazzurri. Chelsea could lose Azpilicueta to Barcelona this summer and want to find a replacement soon.
They have zeroed in on the Dutchman but will need to improve their offer to stand an opportunity of signing him as the Nerazzurri are holding out for €50m. The London club and Inter Milan have been involved in a summer transfer already, with Lukaku returning to Italy on a year-long loan deal.
