Man United have £60m Ligue 1 star «on their list» in final days of the window
Manchester United have PSG star Achraf Hakimi “on their list” of targets at Old Trafford, according to journalist Jacque Talbot.
Erik ten Hag is believed to be in the market for a right-back and the Red Devils have been linked with the Moroccan international.
According to Football Insider, United are working on a deal for the 23-year-old and are hoping to beat Barcelona to his signature.
Ten Hag want a right-back because Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who’s form has fallen off in the last 12 months, is wanted on loan by Crystal Palace before Thursday’s deadline.
Sky Sports claim the Eagles are ‘interested’ in re-signing the 24-year-old, who hasn’t played a minute in the Premier League this season and wants a route out of Old Trafford after losing his place to Dalot last November.
As a result, United want Hakimi, who only joined PSG from Inter Milan in a £60m deal last summer, to provide competition and fight for a place with Dalot on the right-side of their backline.
But while Talbot believes that Hakimi is on United’s list of targets at Old Trafford, naturally, he recognises that it would be a tough deal to complete.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “Hakimi is someone Manchester United have on their list, but it would take a lot to get him over the line.”
United have lacked quality from the full-back areas in recent years, but that would change if they managed to bring Hakimi to the Theatre of Dreams.
One of the top attacking full-backs in European football and described as an ‘extraordinary player‘ by legendary forward Ronaldo, Hakimi has won Serie A and Ligue 1 in the last two seasons with Inter and PSG.
Across those two campaigns, Hakimi has scored 13 goals and registered an impressive 18 assists, with his attacking output amongst the best of any full-backs around the continent.
To put that into context, none of United’s four full-backs managed to score last term and chipped in with just seven assists between them.
Dalot has particularly struggled to contribute in the final third, registering just four goals and assists in 68 United appearances, which means Hakimi would be a considerable upgrade in that department.
