Liverpool determined to sign 22-year-old Brazilian attacker & to sign€25m-rated Ligue 1 star
Liverpool are exploring a summer move for Antony. Liverpool have been in touch with Ajax over a prospective move for Brazil international, who is valued at £59m by the Eredivisie giants and is a target for Man United. The Reds have completed three additions this summer, with Darwin Nunez, Calvin Ramsay, and Carvalho arriving at Liverpool.
Liverpool appeared to have completed their attack following the record-breaking signing of Darwin Nunez. But going by their links with Marco Asensio this summer, it is safe to say the Reds are still on the lookout for more attacking reinforcements, especially in wide-areas following Sadio Mane’s exit.
The Reds have now turned their attention towards hijacking Man United’s move for tricky Antony. The 22-year-old forward has quickly established himself as one of Europe’s most skilful and productive wide-attackers thanks to his flashy skills.
The Brazilian winger joined the Dutch club from Sao Paulo in 2020 for a fee of nearly £14m and has since gone on to play 79 games for Ajax, yielding 22 goals and 20 assists in the process. The Brazilian also produced a string of stellar performances in the UCL last term and is a regular in Tite’s Selecao setup as well.
Despite having three years left on his deal with Eredivisie giants, the South American winger could leave Ajax in the summer transfer window, since he is one of the most sought-after footballers on the market.
Leeds United and West Ham United are both ready to battle it out for Stade Rennais winger Martin Terrier. The French winger is also a target for Liverpool, with the Ligue 1 club demanding €40m to part ways with the attacker. The 25-year-old winger came through the ranks at Lille before moving to Lyon in 2018.
The Frenchman spent two campaigns at Lyon before joining Stade Rennais in 2020. Martin has since found a second wind and has 45 goal contributions in only 83 matches for the French club. This has caught the attention of teams from around the channel, including Leeds, West Ham and Liverpool, as the 2022 summer transfer window gathers further steam.
Stade Rennais are not averse to selling their star man and could be persuaded to do so for a fee of €40m. Terrier’s displays have also caught the attention of the Reds. Liverpool went big for Darwin Nunez in the summer, and it is difficult to see them splash the cash for another forward.
The very fact that FSG’s recruitment team have Terrier on their radar speaks highly of his potential. After all, the Reds have proven themselves to be real savants when it comes to recruitment.
Whether it be Leeds or West Ham, either club will be making a gamble in hitching their fortunes to Marin, especially for a price of €40m. But then it is a high risk, high reward situation that could pay huge dividends should it come off.
