Man United agree to sign€25m-rated Ligue 1 centre-forward & €35m-rated Primeira Liga midfielder

Wissam Ben Yedder is facing an uncertain future at Monaco. France international has no shortage of suitors in the ongoing summer transfer window and a possible move away from Ligue 1 could be on the horizon, with many English teams interested in his services.

Man United are among the teams keeping close tabs on his situation at Les Monegasques. Man United have been scouting the striker for a long time and could make an effort to secure his services, although they are set to face stiff competition from league rivals Wolves.

Formerly of Sevilla, Ben Yedder is regarded as one of the best goalscorers in France. With 73 goals in only 124 games for the French club, he has emerged as one of the favourites to be selected for the national team in the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

Wissam has a stellar record in Spain as well, netting 70 goals in 137 games for Sevilla. Standing at just 1.70m, the 31-year-old centre-forward might not be the tallest centre-forwards going around, but he can certainly make up for it with his tactical nous and ability to get into good scoring positions.

Such qualities have made him an invaluable asset to the Monaco front-line in recent years, though it appears his spell at the Principality club could soon come to an end. Man United’s interest in Wissam Ben Yedder comes amidst speculations over the future of Ronaldo.

Man City are set to face competition from Man United in their pursuit of Sporting midfielder Matheus Nunes. A product of the Ericeirense youth setup, Portugal international joined the Lions in winter 2019 after a stint with Estoril Praia.

Nunes linked up with Sporting’s Under-23 setup initially before breaking into the first-team roster in 2020, from which point he has steadily grown into a regular for Ruben Amorim’s side. Matheus featured 50 times across all tournaments for the Portuguese giants in the 2021/22 campaign, even chipping in with four goals and five assists.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who has seven caps for the Portuguese national team, has been strongly linked with a move to Man City ever since their coach, Pep Guardiola, praised him after an encounter between the two clubs in the UCL.

The Red Devils are ready for a revamp in the middle of the park as Pogba and Matic have confirmed their exits, while Lingard and Mata are also leaving at the end of the month when their respective deals expire.

It is set to create many vacancies in the centre of the park that new coach Erik ten Hag will look to fill, with the Portuguese emerging as the latest target.

The report states that Matheus Nunes has a release clause worth €60m in his deal with the Lions. However, a deal can be done for a fee of nearly €50m if either club is willing to offer a footballer on loan.
