CONFIRMED: Superstar doesn't know Ligue 1 club plans but makes transfer vow amid Chelsea agreement

Neymar admits he doesn’t know PSG plans but makes transfer vow amid Chelsea links

Chelsea were linked with a sensational move for Paris Saint Germain star Neymar earlier this window, but the Brazilian has squashed reports with his latest admission.

The most expensive signing of all-time has since been overshadowed by both Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe at PSG, with the latter becoming the most powerful player at the club due to terms in his blockbuster contract. Neymar initially moved away from Messi and Barcelona to establish himself as the main man elsewhere, but it hasn’t exactly gone to plan.

Neymar has been reduced to tears on multiple occasions following their agonising run in the Champions League, and new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly was reportedly offered the chance to sign the Brazilian earlier this month. But despite not knowing what PSG’s plans are, Neymar has admitted that he ‘wants to stay’.

The Brazilian told AFP: «I want to stay at Paris Saint Germain. No one from the club told me anything about the plans for my future, as things stand.

«I don’t know what kind of plans they have for me – I want to stay,» he added. Neymar remains the most expensive single transfer of all-time, as he moved to PSG for a staggering £190million back in 2017.

Neymar was meant to be the one that not only brought Champions League success to PSG, but personally it was seen as an opportunity to move ahead of former team-mate Messi in the race for the Ballon d’Or. But in a strange twist, Messi ended up joining Neymar at PSG in 2021 after Barcelona revealed they couldn’t afford to keep the star.

Within the space of four years, Neymar left Messi to pursue his own personal goals, but then saw PSG bring the Argentine to France to deliver the goods that the Brazilian had failed to do. And with Messi and Mbappe now assumed to be further up in the pecking order than Neymar, he was linked with an exit.

And that still may be the case, but Neymar does not want to leave, meaning that the French side are left with little choice. Chelsea have been linked with both Cristiano Ronaldo and the Brazilian this window, as Boehly looks to signal his arrival with a major statement.

They have signed Raheem Sterling though, who will be hoping to step up in Romelu Lukaku’s absence. Chelsea have also helped rectify their defensive issues by signing Kalidou Koulibaly, with a move for Jules Kounde also rumoured to be underway.
