Chelsea keeping tabs on highly-rated Eredivisie midfielder
Chelsea are looking at PSV midfielder Ibrahim Sangare as an alternative to West Ham’s Declan Rice, according to reports.
He has impressed for the Dutch outfit this term, especially in the UEFA Europa Conference League quarter-final matches against Leicester last month.
The Ivorian’s performances have caught the eye of multiple Premier League clubs including the Blues, who are baulking at the Hammers’ £150 million demand for the Englishman, according to the Mirror.
Ibrahim came through the ranks at Ligue 1 side Toulouse, where the star impressed with his ball-winning ability before switching to Rood-witten in 2020.
The 24-year-old player has performed at a consistent level for his team in spite of them losing the Eredivisie title to Ajax this term and he is ‘one of a number’ of holding midfielders on Thomas Tuchel’s summer radar.
In an interview with Dutch paper De Telegraaf earlier in May, Sangare said he dreams of playing in the English top-flight.
Ibrahim said: ‘I am a PSV player, and I am concentrating on the three games we have left this season. I don’t have my head in other things.
‘After that, I’ll go on holiday, and I’ll have time to talk about possible next projects. But until then I don’t want to worry about that.
‘Playing in the Premier League is not only a dream of mine but a dream of every footballer. That is the biggest and most important league in the world.’
