Defender ready to part ways with Ligue 1 club amid Chelsea interest

Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe is open to quitting the club to challenge himself in a new country and Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel remains a fan of the centre-back.

The Frenchman is a key part of Mauricio Pochettino’s sign and is currently contracted at the club until June 2024.

He is a product of Le Parisiens youth sector and is playing in his eighth consecutive campaign with the senior team, but could close the door on the current spell soon.

According to French publication L’Equipe, the player is open to leaving the Ligue 1 outfit in search of a new challenge and the PL is at the top of his list.

And it appears Presnel wouldn’t struggle to find a new home in the country if he wants to join an English club as the German tactician is a firm admirer of the star.

He worked with Kimpembe at the Parc des Princes side from 2018 to 2020.

Thomas could see the 26-year-old as a possible replacement for Antonio Rudiger, who is in his final year of deal at Chelsea and could leave next year with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid touted to be among sides interested in signing him.

It remains to be seen whether the tough-tackling defender will join the west London giants in upcoming windows if he decides to depart Les Parisiens.
