The London giants are among many teams that are interested and have made an approach for Saint-Etienne starlet Lucas Gourna-Douath. U19 France international signed for the French club youth setup from the Torcy academy in 2018 and has made rapid strides within the team.
Indeed Lucas broke into Saint-Etienne’s B team in September 2019 aged only 16 and earned his first-team debut for the club in September last year when he was just 17 years old.
Since then, there has been no looking back for Lucas, who became a regular feature in the middle of the park for the French club, racking up 30 games in his maiden season. Gourna-Douath has also represented the France national team across various age-group levels.
The 17-year-old midfielder’s swift rise to prominence in Ligue 1 has not gone without notice, with the Blues among a number of top teams showing an interest in the Frenchman’s services. Chelsea’s interest in the French midfielder is not now, with the Blues having been keeping tabs on him for quite a while now.
